We are going to discover the best of the Peloponnese region in Greece.

Artists such as Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega immortalized the legendary Arcadia and ensured forever its presence in culture.
And it is true that Arcadia offers a unique experience, where you will feel close to nature exploring the different trails and rivers, you will learn the importance of the region during the War of Independence and you will get to know the local people and customs, inherited by each generation.

DAY 1
Athens - Arcadia
Arrival in Athens and pick up of the rental car at the Athens airport, departure to Peloponnese. On the way, you can visit the Corinth Canal before taking the road to Arcadia.
The Arcadia region is located in the center of Peloponnese it is mostly mountainous with picturesque towns and villages that fulfill every traveler’s dream by offering excellent services, traditional accommodation in stone-built mansions and exquisite local cuisine.
Dimitsana impresses with the amphitheater construction of the houses of the village and Stemnitsa with the Clock Tower of the church of San Jorge, the churches of the 12th and 15th centuries and the artisan jewelry and silverware shops.
In Dimitsana do not forget to visit the Library and the open-air Museum of Water Energy This museum is the only one of its kind in Greece and displays machines from the pre-industrial period that exploited the motive power of water. As you tour the facilities – the restored gunpowder mill, tanneries, fulling mill, distillery and water mill – you will learn all about these means of production. Night in one of the towns in the region.

DAY 2
Stemnitsa - Antiguo Gortina - Moni Prodromou - Moni Filosofou - Stemnitsa
Today you will see the remains of the city of Gortyna, which is on the edge of the Lousios Gorge, from where the path that will take you to the Prodromou Monasteries of the 16th century begins, where you will enjoy beautiful views looking out from one of the wooden balconies of the Monastery.
Leaving Moni Prodromou behind the path leads to the Lousios river and then ascends to the other side of the gorge taking you to Moni Filosofou built in 1691 where you can visit the 10th-century Catholic church as well as the new monastery (Nea Moni).
This easy/medium difficulty level Gortina – Prodromou – Filosofou trail is a small part of the 75km Mainalo trail that starts from Stemnitsa and ends in Lagadia and passes 7 beautiful villages that stretch over rocky slopes with stone houses, places of long history and natural beauty.
Depending on your physical situation there are many outdoor activities that can be done in the Lousios river area such as hiking and rafting.

DAY 3
Stemnitsa - Sparta - Mystras - Limeni
You leave Stemnitsa behind to continue towards the South of the Peloponnese. At the foot of Mount Taygetus are the ruins of the city of Mistras, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Walking the cobbled paths between churches, houses, monasteries will take you back in time when the city was disputed by Franks, Venetians, Byzantines and Ottomans. Be sure to visit the Palaiologos Palace and the frescoes in the church of Santa Sofia.
In the afternoon, arrival in the bay of Limeni where it is worth enjoying the sunset from the small church of the cemetery next to the sea.

DAY 4
Limeni - Cape Tainaro - Porto Cagio - Limeni
After a good breakfast, the day begins with a visit to the caves of Diros. The tour consists of a ride in wooden boats, where the boatman propels the ship with a long stick. The tour takes you around the underground lake through narrow tunnels and caverns with stalactites and stalagmites. The caves of Diros were considered by the ancient Greeks, one of the entrances to the underworld where the dead were carried through the underground river by a boatman named Charon.
When the visit to Diros ends, the road continues to the south and the towns of Vatheia, Porto Kagio and Gerolimenas, some of the most typical of the Mani region.
If you like hiking, you can continue from Marmari to the South to the Lighthouse and Cape Tenaro and enjoy the views of the open sea. At night visit of Areopoli.

DAY 5
Limeni - Gyhtio - Monemvasia
Depart Limeni in the morning towards the city of Gythion. Leaving Gythio behind, a nice surprise awaits you at one of the tiny bays along the road, the Shipwreck of Agios Dimitrios on the beach of Glyfada, where you may take a stop to swim and take stunning photographs.
Arrival in the walled city of Monemvasia, where you may wander inside the castle and see the sea views.

DAY 6
Monemvasia - Mycenae - Nafplio
Depart from Monemvasia for the palace of Mycenae, which was erected by the Cyclops, enormous beings with just one eye, according to mythology. The city walls, the lion gate, and the tomb of Atreus may all be found at Mycenae, which dates from the Bronze Age. Arrival at Nafplio in the afternoon, followed by a walking tour of the city.

DAY 7
Nafplio - Epidaurus - Athens
Breakfast in Nafplio and free time to visit the city, among other things you can visit the Palamidi fortress and the Bourtzi islet.
Before returning to Athens, stop to visit the most famous ancient theater in the world. The Theater of Epidaurus where comedy and classical Greek tragedy are still reborn there.
