Then comes one of the island\u2019s attractions, the one-of-a-kind beach of Kolona. It is actually a sand strip that connects Kythnos to the islet of Agios Loukas, providing unrivaled scenery! Once there, we\u2019ll take an ascending path to the stunning Castle of Oria, which sits on a high hill near the island\u2019s northernmost tip. This fortified acropolis overlooking the Aegean Sea served as the island\u2019s capital during Byzantine and Latin occupations, but it appears to have been inhabited from prehistoric times. During the Venetian rule, there were 100 chapels, just two of which remain now. You will have time to rest, take in the panoramic views, and snap some beautiful shots before we return to Loutra by the same route. The afternoon will be free for you to rest in the Thermal Springs of Loutra, which are known for their therapeutic properties. Once there, we\u2019ll take a trekking track that will lead us to the quiet beach of Kalo Livadi, which is adorned with a little chapel built on a rock. In the summer, a vast beach with stone slabs, pebbles, and golden sand, as well as enormous and very ancient cedars, creates the ideal backdrop for a stop and, of course, sunbathing and swimming. The sound of the waves will most likely be the only thing you hear in this immaculate setting. A fertile small meadow extends out behind the few dwellings, filled with fig trees, vineyards, and a few groves that gave the village its name.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400;\">Our next and last stop of today\u2019s hike is the well known coastal village of Kanala that took its name after the monastery of Panagia Kanala, dedicated to Virgin Mary. Here you will also find the only pine forest in the island. The monastery hosts the miraculous icon of Our Lady which, according to tradition, was found by fishermen floating in the narrow channel between Kythnos and Serifos and is said to have healing
